Welcome Students!
We celebrate a respectful classroom where math is fun and engaging, but at the same time rigorous. We will use a combination of good old pencil and paper as well as a variety of technology tools that integrate with Google Classroom such as, but not limited to EdPuzzle, Quizizz, Google Forms, Google Sheets, Google Slides, and Google Docs, i-Ready and Delta Math.
During 8th grade, students are rigorously prepared for the Catholic High School Entrance Exams, as well as the HS Level Algebra I Regents Exam
The students always look forward to being true Middle Schoolers. With this comes great responsibility both in actions to model for the younger students and in Academic Responsibility. In 8th grade they work during the day with their Services helping out in the younger grades. They are also excited for Preparation to attend the High Schools of their choice, by working hard and being respectful and responsible.
Greetings Parents
I am honored and privileged to be able to teach and learn from your children, and to be able to call SAS my home away from home. Walking through the halls of our school every day brings a feeling of comfort that offers many blessings.
Good Parent, Teacher, Student Communication is essential for a child’s success in school. Recent studies indicate that the more actively involved a parent is in his or her child’s school life, the more the child excels. When parents and teachers work together, a child has a team of adults who are committed to bringing out his or her best. As parents and teachers, we can work together to support each other in ways that keep this goal in mind. Please never hesitate to email me!
Other Information
Google Classroom (GCR) will serve as our Learning Management System (LMS) this school year. Class Work, Home Work, TPRs and Assessments will be administered almost exclusively via GCR. Additional tools and software that integrate with GCR will also be utilized this school year such as, but not limited to; EdPuzzle, Quizizz, Google Forms, Google email, Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Slides, Delta Math and i-Ready. During the first few weeks of school, I will spend a significant amount of time training students in the use of this technology that will enhance, augment and optimize student learning, workflow and communication.
One of the many ways that I will be communicating with you all throughout the school year is via Remind! Receive important text communications directly from me on your phone, tablet, laptop or desktop by signing up for Math8 2022.23 Remind. Simply text the message: @h6kgh22 to the number 81010.
Both Student and Parents should sign up for Remind.
Parents should also have access to PowerSchool. PowerSchool serves as the official books and record for grades. This is were student report cards are generated from. Periodically I will transfer grades from our Google CR Gradebook to PowerSchool Gradebook. Log in frequently to check grades all throughout the trimester. Set up email notifications to be sent to you on a regular basis through PowerSchool.
